Land of sorrow

Even though it’s under occupation by the greatest western powers, Kosovo and Metohia will always be Serbian land and the cradle of Serbdom and Orthodoxy in the Balcans. In the 10.887 sq. kilometers, the province has a great number of shrines that represent the presence of Orthodox Christianity in the area, dating back to the times when many of the contemporary superpowers that took part in expelling Serbs, were not even in the existence.
Kosovo is a Serbian land where the wars were waged for centuries and it was always the armies of the superpowers, as US army today, that were trying to achieve their military goal in Kosovo.
The Albanians are trying to dispute Serbian right to have their ancestral lands claiming that they have settled Kosovo before the Serbs. The historical data shows that the Albanians haven’t settled in some areas of Kosovo until the end of World War II and that they have managed to outnumber the Serbs by high birth rate and uncontrolled immigration from Albania, during the communist era, while at the same time Serbs were frequently forced to leave the area of Kosovo and Metohia.
Albanian historians are trying to prove the false thesis regarding the origin of Albanians. They claim that the Albanians are descendents of Illyrians, one-time inhabitants of Balkan peninsula. Hence, some place names in Kosovo were renamed to have Illyrian names like Dardania, Iliria etc. More and more often, the newborn children are named after the Illyrian kings (Agron, Teuta, Ilir and so on).
Today, as many times before, Kosovo is losing it’s own native population. Threatened and in jeopardy, Serbs are leaving their centuries-old homes and fleeing, and the only remaining witnesses, the monasteries of Kosovo, are left to be burned down and blown up, by the blood-thirsty thugs, hungry for Serbian blood.
Walking down the same road as the Turks, the Albanians too are desecrating those eye-witnesses of Serbian existence in Kosovo and Metohia.
During the occupation of Serbian territory by the Ottoman Empire, the Turks have destroyed hundreds of churches and monasteries.
Some of the desecrated monasteries have been rebuild in the second half of the 20th century.
One of the Serbs who has the greatest merits for the resurrection of the demolished monasteries is the current Patriarch of Serbian Orthodox Church Pavle (Paul), who has encouraged the reconstruction of the old churches and the building of the new ones. Yet only couples of years since some monasteries were brought back to life, the same monasteries were desecrated and the monks have been expelled.
The persecution and expelling of the Serbs that never ceased after WWII has reach its climax at the end of 20th century.
To the greatest extent, the flight of Serbs who were leaving the province, was contributed by the communist regime lead by president Tito.
Three decades after Tito died, his real origins still remain a mistery.
However, he bears the greatest responsibility for the crimes against Serbs in Kosovo. Even the very name of Kosovo (Kos – Blackbird) and Metohia ( from Greek “metoh” – church estate) proves that Kosovo belongs to Serbs. Today, Albanians call Kosovo “Kosova”, and the region of Metohia “Dukagjini”. The word Kosovo, has no meaning in Albanian, as well as other city names in Kosovo and Metohia.
On the arrival of KFOR and UNMIK to Kosovo in 1999, all the names of the towns and streets in Kosovo were renamed to have Albanian names. The monuments to Serbian heroes like the monument to Tsar Lazar in Gnjilange, were demolished.
Serbs are getting killed, assassinated, wounded and abducted, their houses burned to the ground. As of today, the number of Serbs that were killed or went missing in Kosovo after KFOR arrived, is measured in thousands, the number of demolished Orthodox churches and monasteries is measured in hundreds, and the number of burned down Serbian houses in tens of thousands.
Even though KFOR had as much as 50.000 soldiers in the beginning as well as several thousand of policemen and civilian mission members, none of the above mentioned crimes have been solved.
Murdering a Serb in Kosovo is not considered as a crime, on a contrary, the murderers of children and the elderly are being rewarded as heroes.
After the arrival of KFOR and UNMIK (UN civilian mission) to Kosovo, there isn’t enough electricity.
The Obilic power plant is managed by foreign executives who are selling the electricity it produces to the neighboring countries. These disastrous conditions in the supply of power haven’t changed since the 11th of June 1999. The Serbs have the lowest priority in supplying power.
Many houses and apartments in Metohian cities and villages are occupied by Albanians. The civilian mission of UNMIK handed over all the authority to Kosovo government, and this government manages all of it’s departments..
UNMIK administration has built custom houses with checkpoints at the “crossings with Serbia”, where the goods imports from Serbia are taxed.
It is estimated that about 140.000 Serbs live in Kosovo today, mainly in enclaves that would remind you of detention camps (Sirinicka Zupa, Sredacka Zupa, Kosovan Moran region, central Kosovo, Kosovska Mitrovica with its surroundings).
The education of Kosovo Serbs is conducted by curriculum of Ministry of Education of Serbia.
The school buildings that were used by the Serbs before 1999 were seized by Albanians, and the documentation that was found inside has been destroyed. Today, Serbian children are taught in the improvised facilities lacking basic conditions for work.
Approximately 300.000 Serbs and non-Albanians have been expelled from Kosovo. Most of the expelled Serbs live in collective centers in Serbia. While the politicians keep talking about the return of Serbs to Kosovo, the Serbs themselves are leaving their homes one after the other, certain that there is no future for them under the Kosovo sky.
